Borax is often used in cleaning and laundry products, especially as a deodorizer. It is also used as an emulsifier or thickener in skin care and DIY soaps.
Safe for humans as long as not ingested or inhaled. Can cause skin irritation.
Note: Over the last few years, there have been some studies published showing the genotoxic potential of borax for aquatic wildlife. More research needs to be done, but this is a potential concern.
