tell us about your business. what inspired you to get into it, what you sell/service you offer, what makes your business stand out and how it impacts you, your community or the environment.

bare market already brings 450+ non-food bulk goods to neighbourhoods near you. We offer refillable, local or sustainably sourced products for consumers, while working with producers to reduce waste in their operations. Our aim? To make sustainable living easier + more physically + financially accessible. With only 55 pop-ups, we've already diverted 4000 single-use containers from landfill. We know waste is a fantastic lever for nudging behaviour change + now we can all do something about it.

how would you use the FedEx Small Business Grant money to make a significant impact on your business?

Funds will be put towards developing a technology to make the weighing process simpler for customers when they refill. This technology will store the weight of a customer's empty container so they need not reweigh their containers each visit, improving convenience by reducing time spent shopping. Funds will also help us with the capital costs of opening a closed-loop cafe to help us divert surplus produce + bulk food not sold in store from landfill by upcycling it into delicious snacks + meals.
